Greetings!
I hope you are all doing well; today was a gorgeous day! I didn't do very much... I went to the bank to sort out some problems. They haven't been solved yet, but I'm hoping they will be solved soon! You see, on Sunday, I went out to eat pho, but when I went to pay, my card kept getting declined. I was so frustrated, but a friend of mine ended up paying for me. Anyways, when I got home, I checked my bank account, and it said that the transactions had gone through! I had actually paid twice! I began to become frustrated and worried.
This little story has something to do with a passage that has been on my heart for a while. I first heard it at Life Group a couple of weeks ago, and it has stuck with me since. The passage is in Matthew Chapter 6, and it speaks about worrying. Do you find yourself worrying about everything...? There have been so many times where I have caught myself worrying about the silliest things! My mind would be taken over by worries; I would lie in bed all night, worrying, worrying, and worrying.
So, to those of you who worry constantly, what good is it doing for you? Does worrying about every small detail in life make you a better person? Does it help you live longer? Does it make things better? I'm not sure about you, but it doesn't help me very much. Matthew 6:27 says, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" This is so true! What good does it do for us when we worry? I also wonder... When we constantly worry, doesn't it show we have little faith in the Lord? He promises to never leave us and to take care of us, but we still worry about our own matters when we could just give them up to the Lord! We have nothing to worry about because the Lord is making sure our needs are met.
I have always found it hard not to worry. Today, I found myself worrying about money. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get my money back; I've also been worrying about if I will have enough money for next year, but after reading this passage, I was reminded not to worry about my basic needs! For He will provide for us. Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." So, don't worry about worldly things... Find ways to seek his kingdom and his righteousness and all your needs will be provided!
